The Divorce Process

In any divorce matter, it is important to protect your rights as early as possible. The first step is to secure sound legal advice from a divorce attorney. By doing so, you are able to use their expert advice to your advantage.

The decisions you make at the time of separation and during the divorce process are critical to your rights and likely to the outcome of your case. Most people going through a divorce have many questions and are not sure what the divorce process entails. Amanda can answer your questions, give you peace of mind, and guide you during every phase of your divorce matter.

Three Categories of Divorce Proceedings

There are three general categories of divorce proceedings: Contested, Uncontested, and Joint Petition. ACF Law Firm exclusively represents clients in Contested and Uncontested divorces only. We do not provide Joint Petition Divorces where one lawyer represents both spouses.

Beware if your spouse suggests that you use his/her lawyer. This is a critical mistake in divorce matters. Your interests are best protected by completely independent legal counsel provided by an experienced Pennsylvania divorce lawyer.

Divorce Matter Resolution

Divorce cases are resolved in a variety of ways. Spouses that wish to avoid litigation may choose to go through divorce mediation. This form of resolution has many benefits but both parties must be open to the mediation process.

The most common form of resolution is through a negotiated settlement. The divorce attorneys for each spouse conduct negotiations through the entire divorce matter. If a negotiated settlement agreement can be reached, a Decree of Divorce will be drafted and submitted to the Washington County Family Court for approval and recording.

If an agreement cannot be reached, the resolution of the case will be through a non-jury trial. The family court judge assigned to your case will make final determinations based on the evidence and witness testimony presented by the divorce attorneys representing both spouses.

Divorce Client Benefits

One of the most important aspects of any divorce matter is communication between you and your Washington County divorce lawyer. You will speak directly with Amanda, in an in-depth consultation, before any work begins on your case. Your attorney, Amanda Ciranni Fisher, will be your primary point of contact until your matter is resolved.

Divorce related issues do not exclusively occur during regular business hours. At the inception of your case, you will be provided with Amanda's private cell phone number. Your attorney is available 24/7, including holidays, for urgent communications.

If you would like to speak with Amanda please contact the office at 724-258-8800 or by using the contact form.
